This forum is here to help the people wanting a subtitle, getting it. Its about spreading the joy to people that aint so good with the language and needs subs to watch it. It’s for all of us getting what we need and help others to get what they need. It’s about caring. In the following text we will see how this forum is used, and try to eliminate some potential problems. Uploading a subtitle (step by step) some basic facts so to say. [NOTICE] Always check the subs so it is the right subtitle for THAT movie, in synch etc. [/NOTICE] However, one thing that might happen is that, when you have filled in the movie name, you can get a response * Film title not found. This only means that the movie ain't in the DS database, and that we need to add it before u can go on uploading the subtitles. If this happens make a reply, asking for the movie to be added, in the post ALL ADD 2 DATABASE REQUESTS HERE After you have made the "add to database request", it will be added as soon as possible by some of us in the DS crew. It might take a day or two sometimes, so please be patient. When asking for a movie to be added to the database, Please state movie title (if foreign film also add the a.k.a) & year of production. Include Imdb and Amazon links if possible. Download a subtitle When in need of a subtitle *Press Subtitles in the menu at top of the screen. *Then use the search for subtitles function. If you find the one you want, download it and enjoy ;) Here is another problem that can occur, if the subtitle aint in the db. See request subtitle Request subtitle When you need something, dont hesitate to ask. Someone is bound to have what YOU are looking for. The request subtitle and view requested subtitles function is currently not working the way it should , so i will only tell you what goes at the moment. Best way to do the request is by posting in the subtitle forum. In that thread you post, you state what movie you need the sub for and what language etc. There are some language requests that have their own posts already. Please use those if possible for easier handling, might improve the chanses you have of getting the subs you want. [NOTICE] Do a check in the forum if anyone else requested a subtitle for the same movie. IF SO USE THE SAME THREAD. [/NOTICE] Reporting faulty subs Currently we have this thread Report faulty subs here for theese kind of things. And we would truly appreciate if you use this. Thanks for taking your time to read this small tutorial. By following theese small steps you will not only help making the forum a cleaner more easily read place, but you will also make it easier for the people taking care of the forum and the subtitle people.Such things are always appreciated. Thx for contribuating. regards //bTs |

Hehe good one Chris... I'm working on a subtitle tutourial to... here is the first part. Please note that in this Topic a way to add subtitles, edit subtitles, making subtitles and posting them on DS is discribed. Theire are other ways with different programs. Also this doesn't has to be the best Tutourial. I know that most of you also get some (other a lot) of movies from DS. Ofcourse it is nice to get Subtitles with it so here is a small tutourial how to add them to the movie, Make them Sync with the movie. Adding Subtitles to a Movie First things First First of all we need to have a program wich we can play the Substitles with. For this I use VobSub. You can Download VobSub here. Now we have VobSub we can install it. You can just click next and install VobSub. NOTE: If you want to install the Virtualdub, Aviuntil, Text for VirtulDub and AviSync plugins. You must chose full install. Configuring VobSub Now you have installed VobSub. Click on DirectVobSub Configure Now you see a windows with tabs: First we go to the Tab General I will say you hopw to set the things and afterward you will see a picture. The first thing you can change is how to extend them. This depends on the Movie but most movies are 16:9. Ofcourse it could be that you have a movie wich is 4:3. Just change this per movie. Enable MOD32fix. You won't need it most of the time. But it doesn't do any damage (as far as i know) so just put it on. The Thirth thing must be set to: Double if smaller than The things on the right of it are the limit if smaller than double.. You can play with these settings but for now they are just fine. Now you see the last thing you can change in this screen. Put it to Always load.'This must be so it starts everytime you run a movie file. The Tab Misc On every comp i have installed VobSub i never had to use this tab. So i'll skipp it. Also because i do not excatly know what to use it for. The Tab Timing Just keep everything like this. (original settings if i'm not mistaken). We can let it the same because later in this tutourial i'll explain how you can make it perfectly Sync. The Tab Colors Leave the orinal settings. The Tab Paths This doesn't work perfect because most of the time the subs are named different than the movie. But you can add here the Dir where your subs are stored. No we're done Configuring VobSub. You only had to do this once. Close the window. Putting Subtitles under the movie When you start your player and load the movie. An icon will appaer in your taskbar: Doubble Click on it. You' see the Direct VobSub Configure screen will Popup. Click on Open. Go to the place where the Subtitle files are stored (unrar if you download them in RAR format). Check Override Placement. H is to move it from left to right. 50 is the center and is good. V is to movie it from the top to the bottom. i always have something like 90/100 but you can figure this out for yourself. Now click on Adjust (down right on the screen) and select the Language. Click On OK. The Subs will Automattically Appear under the Movie. Congratualations you now have Subtitles under you Movie. It could be that the Subs are not 100% Sync. For that read the How to make subs Sync of my Tutourial |

Making Subtitles the right Framerate First things First Again you'll have to download something. This time it is -Subconvertor 1.2 Now we have them both we can go on installing. Just UnRAR Subconverter. Using Subconverter You only have to use Subconverter if your subtiles have a different Framerate than your Movie. If your movie and Subtitles have the same Framerate skip this tutourial and go to the SubSync Tutourial. Once you Open SubConvertor you should see this. You can just leave all the settings the same. The only thing you will have to change is the framerate, and you can also uncheck srt=>ssa newline use \n This converts it into ssa format instead of srt as far as i havechakedit doesn't change anything. Also VobSub supports it. So decide for yourself if you want to change it or not. Now click on Open and select the sub. You can only open srt, ssa and sub files. this are the most common filetypes. Once i have a better Subconverter i will ofcourse change this tutourial. The next thing to do is select the framerate of the Movie (cause you will change the subs not the movie). Let's say the movie has 29.97 Frames per second. Select that. You can press convert (it saves it automatically at ssa format) or use Convert as. If you Use convert as be sure to check what is after the dot. you can change it for yourself, so you can use ssa, srt and sub. Than click save. It converts in less than a second. You see all the info of the sub on your right but it isn't of anyuse. the importants thing it is convert. Now we can go on with SubSync. |

Synchronising subs with SubSync originally by: chaos-inc Pictures by rullzer Introduction As you might know you can watch your movies with subtitles, these subtitles aren't always synchronised for the version of the movie you have downloaded. That's why I wrote this guide so you also can watch movies with subs that are perfectly synched. Step 1 Get the latest version of SubSync, you can get it here. Install it to your desired destination, and open the program. Step 2 Open the movie which you want to synchronise the subs with clicking on the the 3 dots next to the "Media" field (1). Do the same with the subtitle file at the the "Subtitle" field (2). Step 3 Click the button "Edit Subtitles", now select the first sentence you see in the subtitle editor, press CTRL+F5 it will now be recognized as the first line in the subtitle (Blue). Now scroll all the way down and select the last spoken line, press CTRL+F6 it will now be recognized as the last subtitle (Green). Step 4 Now leave the subtitle editor open and go back to the main window of SubSync. Play the movie and as soon as you here the first sentence of the movie click on the button "Blue", after you done that scroll to the end of the movie and wait for the last sentence to come. When you here the last sentence click the button "Green". Step 5 Click the "Save Subtitles" button, save them to your desired destination. And watch your movie with perfectly synched subs ! |

How to make a SVCD with selectable subtitle(s) At first following. Selectable subtitles in SVCD's are only visible when played in a Standalone Dvd-player. There are 2 types of selectable subtitles, SVCD subtitles and CVD subtitles. Not all Dvd-players support 1 or both subtitles. Check http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php for a big schedule of players, with among other things statement if they support selectable subs and if so, which type. Needed programs: Subadjust : www.divx-digest.com/software/subadjust.html MaestroSBT : www.doom9.org (download / main software page) Winsubmux : www.doom9.org (download / main software page) Step 1: Starting point is a mpeg2 file. So if you have a bin/cue file, you have to extract the mpeg2 file first by using Isobuster of another program. I assume you have a subtitle which is synchronic to the movie and is in Subrip format (.srt) or Microdvd format (.sub or .txt). You can test the synchronity by playing the mpeg2 file with BS-player. You might use a mpeg2 codec for the pc, like the one from Elecard. First step is to convert the subtitle to a Substation Alpha (SSA) subtitle with the program Subadjust . Load the .srt (or other) file. At Target File, you type the name of the file but use the extension .ssa. Choose the option Conversion to : SSA-substation alpha. Press the button GO. ![]() Within a few seconds your subtitle has been converted to a SSA subtitle. Step 2: Start the program MaestroSBT. The program asks for a .SSA file. You take the file you just made. Now you see a screen with 7 buttons at the right. First select Set Files and select the directory where the subtitle has to be saved. Than select Rendering and take over the settings like below. ![]() Depending on your television (widescreen or normal) and the source (NTSC or PAL) you can experiment with Output resolution and the option 4:3 compensation . Select the button Timing and choose the fps-rate of the movie. You don't need the button Segments. Under the button Styles - Edit Styles you can select the font, colour and margins. Also here you have to experiment a bit and try which settings look the best on your television. I mostly use the settings like below.. ![]() Press on OK and you will get back in the main menu. With the button Edit & Preview you will see a preview of the result. If it doesn't look perfect, just ignore that. Finally you select Generate and your subtitles will be generated. When they are ready you will find one .sub file and a lot of bitmap files in the directory you selected. Step 3: Start the program Winsubmux . At input MPEG filename you load your mpeg2 file. Than select Stream #0 and you select the .sub file, you just made. Than click on the button Load all. Choose the type of subtitle (CVD or SVCD) you wanna make. You can maximal mux 4 selectable subs in a svcd movie. Tip: Mux 2 subtitles in your movie, 1 in CVD format and 1 in SVCD format (Comfortable when you buy a new dvd player in future). With the button preview you can see the result. Finally press the button Multiplex and a new mpeg file will be made, including your selectable subtitle(s). ![]() On some dvd-players the colour of the subtitles won't be played correct (a.o. Mustek ). If that appears first select User definied and change the 4 colours in Black, White, black, black. Than select Save #0 as to save the subs again. Select User definied again and press Multiplex. Last hint. Make a short sample of 5 minuts ( Tmpgenc ) to do a couple of tests. Exactly write down which settings you selected. Especially play with the coloursettings in Winsubmux and the Color Rendering settings in Maestro. © 2002-2003 Willem Last update: 20-01-2003 |
